What does having a floor fitted cost in 2026?
Guide prices per material in one place: laminate, vinyl and parquet — plus the preparation underneath and the skirting alongside.
A floor fitter's labour in 2026 follows mainly the material. Fitting laminate costs € 10 to € 20 per m², a vinyl (PVC) floor € 15 to € 30 per m² and fitting or renovating parquet € 25 to € 50 per m². Those bands are labour: you buy the floor separately or through the professional, and that difference in approach belongs in the quote.
Translated into a complete job: a single bedroom in laminate starts around € 150, a whole living floor runs up to some € 1,000 in labour. For vinyl the same spread sits at € 225 to € 1,500 — glue-down work at the top of the band — and for parquet at € 375 to € 2,500, with herringbone and other patterns highest. The number of m² and the cutting work around radiators, alcoves and door frames decide where you land.
Underneath and alongside the floor sit two items that a hurried quote sometimes omits. Underlay and levelling costs € 10 to € 20 per m² extra; removing and disposing of the old floor comes on top of that. And skirting and finishing runs € 5 to € 12 per running metre, which for a standalone finishing job comes to € 100 to € 600.
Request several quotes for the same job: differences between companies run into double-digit percentages. Set every quote against the price index and check whether preparation, underlay, skirting and disposal of the old material are included — that is exactly where two prices that look comparable at first glance part ways.
