Labour depends mainly on the material: fitting laminate costs € 10 to € 20 per m², a vinyl (PVC) floor € 15 to € 30 per m² and fitting or renovating parquet € 25 to € 50 per m² — always excluding the floor itself. Underlay and levelling cost € 10 to € 20 per m² extra; fitting skirting boards € 5 to € 12 per metre.

You buy the floor separately or through the floor fitter — via the professional you often benefit from trade discounts and you know floor, underlay and skirting match. Ordering yourself, allow about 5 to 10% extra for cutting loss and agree upfront who is responsible for back-orders.

A new floor needs a level, dry and sound subfloor. If the floor is not level, it is levelled first — expect € 10 to € 20 per m² extra. With glue-down vinyl flatness is most critical: imperfections show through. A good quote itemises the preparation separately, so you compare quotes fairly.

Yes — vinyl, laminate and parquet can all be fitted over underfloor heating, provided the underlay and fitting method are matched to it (low thermal resistance, so the heat gets through). New heating must have run through a warm-up protocol before fitting. Always mention underfloor heating in your request; installing the heating itself is installer's work and outside this request.

Not necessarily. A click floor can sometimes go over a level, firmly fixed old floor — saving removal and disposal costs. But the floor does get higher (mind doors and thresholds), and laying over a springy or damaged base is unwise. The floor fitter assesses this on site; removal and disposal belong as a separate item in the quote.

A single room in laminate or click vinyl is often done within a day; a complete living floor or glued and levelled work takes several days, because leveller and adhesive need drying time. Wood and laminate must acclimatise in the room for a few days beforehand. An empty room works faster — and therefore cheaper — than a furnished one; that is why we ask about it in the request.

Often, yes. Solid parquet and much engineered parquet can be re-sanded and refinished with oil or lacquer — the floor looks like new afterwards, without the price of new wood. It falls within the same labour band as parquet fitting (€ 25-50 per m²). Choose 'Parquet fitting or renovation' in the request and indicate it concerns your existing floor.
